Application procedure for the winter semester 2020

Please note the information by the International Office for international prospective Master students: https://portal.uni-koeln.de/en/international/study-in-cologne/international-applications/master-students-prospective

In order to enable foreign applicants to apply for the winter semester 2020, there will be a purely online procedure at Uni-assist. The difference to the previous procedures will be that applicants will only be able to upload documents online in the Uni-assist portal and will also be able to submit unauthenticated documents. There will be no postal dispatch of the documents to Uni-assist.

This form of verification naturally includes a basic check of the plausibility of the certificate document. This means that the Uni-assist staff members in charge of the report evaluation will check whether the document has features that suggest a suspicion of falsification, even if it is a simple copy. The assessors contribute their specific country knowledge and their knowledge of the form of the certificates. Certificates and diplomas with digital verification options will continue to be verified individually, especially in cases of suspected forgery and in random samples without reason.

Important: All documents that are decisive for formal admission must still be submitted on time! It is not possible to omit e.g. required language certificates! (In the case of courses of study without admission restrictions, proof of language proficiency can be submitted at the latest when enrolling.)
Please note the postponement of application deadline: as announced on May 13, the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia intends to change the study place allocation regulations so that the application deadline for the first semester for Master's programs with restricted admissions is postponed to 20th of August! The deadline for advanced semesters remains the 15th of September.

The enrolment procedure for admitted applicants will take place as usual. The difference will be that all foreign applicants who have only submitted their documents online will be enrolled with a re-registration block and will have to submit the certifications to the International Office within their first semester.
